Marc and Jan Newson welcome you to Canterbury House, for a comfortable and relaxing stay in their stylish en-suite guest accommodation, in the Regency town of Sidmouth, East Devon.
Built in the early 1800’s, Canterbury House sits in a lovely position close to the River Sid and the National Trust parkland ‘The Byes’. An easy and level 5 minute stroll takes you into the town centre with its excellent variety of shops, restaurants, pubs and café’s and onto the picturesque Jurassic Coast seafront, where you can enjoy a walk along the unspoilt esplanade.
Canterbury House is also perfectly situated for exploring the delights of the nearby villages and wonderful East Devon and Dorset countryside. Venturing further afield is easy too in the car or using the excellent bus services.
We have comfortable, spacious en-suite bedrooms comprising singles, doubles and twins, including two rooms that are conveniently at ground floor level. All rooms are extremely well appointed and have been designed with your comfort in mind. We only use high quality bed linen, duvets and pillows. In each room you will have free wi-fi access, a flat screen freeview TV, digital radio alarm clock, complimentary hot drinks tray and hairdryer. All our en-suites have a heated towel rail and shaver point, lovely fluffy towels and luxury toiletries.
Our extensive breakfast menu is varied and caters for all tastes and special diets.
A comfortable resident’s lounge is available for your use where you can relax, read or surf the internet (if you have your own wireless enabled laptop/device).
Off street parking is also available.
Very welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Rooms immaculately clean and beautiful presented.Exceptional breakfast caters for all. All covid regulations in place. Would highly recommend and we will be going back again at some point in the future.
Marc and Jan are the perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble. I am gluten intolerant but the breakfast was superb every morning. The rooms were checked every day but they managed to be covid safe, which again gives you peace of mind. Thanks for a relaxing stay.

Marc & Jan are great hosts & very welcoming. The whole B&b is absolutely spotless and they were very organised with all the Covid rules in place so we felt very safe. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices. We would definitely recommend Canterbury House B&B.

Jan and Marc were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The accommodation was very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The breakfast was delicious and well cooked with a good selection on the menu.
